Aluminum Fencing is a tough, long-lasting product that requires minimal maintenance and can last 40 – 50 years. By customizing it’s color or adding scrolls and decorative finials, aluminum fencing can mimic wrought iron without the risk of rusting. It is the ideal aesthetic look for properties, providing safety and assurance while maintaining visibility.

The Mainstreet Fence Difference

MainStreet Fence always uses a wet poured concrete footer to adhere to the powder coated finish when installing their U.S. manufactured, warrantied aluminum products. Welded frames, self-closing hinges, lockable latches, and heavy weight gate posts are standard for every gate installed.

Aluminum Fence Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs):

  • How much maintenance do they require?

Virtually none. Aluminum is coated with a durable, baked-on finish that won't crack, peel, or chip. Cleaning with soap and water once or twice a year is sufficient.

  • Do aluminum fences rust?

No, aluminum does not rust like iron or steel. It contains little to no iron, preventing iron oxide (rust) from forming.

  • Are they good for pool fencing?

Yes, they are ideal. They are resistant to moisture and corrosion, and many styles comply with BOCA pool safety codes.

  • How do I install them on a slope?

Aluminum panels can be "racked" or "stepped" to accommodate uneven terrain, allowing the fence to follow the contour of the ground.

  • Are they strong enough for security?

Yes. While lighter than steel, they are durable, flexible, and come in different grades (residential, commercial, industrial) to handle high-traffic areas or impact.

  • What are the available colors and styles?

Common colors are black, white, and bronze. They typically feature a classic, picket-style look that provides security without blocking views.

  • How are gates secured?

Gates are usually fully welded and pre-assembled for strength, often including robust hinges and latches.

  • Does aluminum get hot in the sun?

It can get hot (around 100 degrees to 140 degrees), but due to high thermal conductivity, it generally stays cooler than steel or iron alternatives

  • Can my dog squeeze through the picket space on aluminum fence?

Whether your dog can squeeze through the pocket space of an aluminum fence depends on a few factors, including the size and breed of your dog, as well as the design and dimensions of the fence.

Aluminum fences typically have vertical pickets with spaces in between. If the gaps are wide enough and your dog is small or slender, there's a possibility they could squeeze through. If you're concerned about your dog escaping, it's a good idea to measure the gaps and compare them to your dog's width and body shape.  If you find that the gaps are too wide for your dog to safely be contained, you might consider a puppy picket style or an aluminum fence with a tighter space.

  • What is the difference between an aluminum fence with puppy picket and an aluminum fence with a tighter space?

Puppy pickets feature vertical pickets spaced closer together, approximately 16 inches high at the bottom, to prevent small dogs, especially puppies, from slipping through. This design enhances security while maintaining a more open aesthetic appeal.

In contrast, aluminum fences with tighter spacing have pickets as close as 1.5 to 2 inches apart for the total height, providing even greater security against both small and larger animals. The key difference lies in the height of the additional picket, with puppy pickets specifically aimed at keeping small dogs contained, this style only has extra pickets at the bottom.
